The Australian Seed Bank Partnership’s National Steering Committee will come together in Melbourne on the 23rd of September 2022 for their annual face to face meeting. This invitation-only event provides an opportunity for the Partnership to review its operations and discuss Partnership initiatives for the coming year.

This year the Partnership will hold a joint meeting between the Committee and members of the Council of Heads of Australian Botanic Gardens (CHABG) committee, who are holding their AGM in Melbourne at the same time. This joint meeting will allow members from both committees to discuss achievements enabled through Partnership initiatives and discuss future directions for the Partnership’s governance and programs.

Face to face meetings like this also provide the time for Partners to tour ex situ seed conservation facilities in other jurisdictions around Australia. These visits promote greater knowledge sharing, learning and development opportunities as well as enabling stronger collaborations on collecting and research for Australia’s threatened native flora. They also help Partners to identify potential new equipment needs and the opportunity to discuss technical challenges and considerations for forthcoming upgrades to seed banks.
