Australasian Seed Science Conference
Seeding Connection: Bridging knowledge, policy and practice across agriculture and conservation
Horsham, Victoria | 22-25 September 2025
Welcome to the 2025 Australasian Seed Science Conference
On behalf of the Conference Committees, we welcome you to join us on the 22-25 September 2025 in Horsham, Victoria for the 3rd Australasian Seed Science Conference (ASSC2025).
Hosted by the Australian Grains Genebank and Australian Seed Bank Partnership, the ASSC2025 is a leading conference exploring research and innovation across the agricultural and biodiversity conservation sectors. This conference provides a platform for Australasian seed researchers, industries, policymakers, and communities to promote research, insights, technologies, and exchange ideas on how we can address similar scientific, legal and policy challenges.
ASSC 2025 aims to attract a broad scientific program with a focus on practical applications. Topics may include a) the role of Indigenous knowledge in reviving traditional food systems and leading community-driven restoration of native biological resources, b) existing and necessary policies for seed conservation, access, and utilization, c) notoriously ‘difficult to germinate’ species, and d) the sustainable use of genomic and digital technologies to address climate change, enhance crop production and support the recovery of plant and crop species.
We also look forward to welcoming delegates from our allied conference held by the International Society for Seed Science the 15 – 19 September 2025 in Perth, Western Australia. See below for more for information.
Join us in Horsham at a spectacular time of year for an exciting and diverse scientific program. Our lineup includes panel discussions, workshops, field trips, and social events, all designed to spark collaborative conversations on innovative seed research, policy, and management with a strong emphasis on practical applications. We can’t wait to see you there!
Yours sincerely,
Dr Sally Norton and Dr Kathryn Eyles

Welcome to Horsham, Victoria!
Horsham, located in the heart of the Wimmera and home to the Australian Grains Genebank, is the perfect setting within a region renowned for its native plant diversity, regional landscape conservation and Indigenous care for country. Regions like this are critical areas where urgent action is needed to both accelerate agricultural innovation for profitable, resilient, and sustainable farming systems, and to also conserve and restore the biodiversity on which all our systems depend.
The Wimmera comes alive in September, and we encourage you to take some time either side of the conference to experience the region in spring. The region’s national parks, such as the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park, are particularly beautiful and rich in Indigenous heritage of the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia, and Jupagulk peoples covering diverse ecosystems, including woodlands, wetlands, and heathlands, support a wide variety of native species, many of which are of cultural significance.
