Mission accomplished: Outcomes of our Critically Endangered Project

Across Australia, some of our most unique and fragile plant species are teetering on the brink of extinction. through our Critically Endangered Project, we set out to change that.

Over the last  two years, seed conservation experts worked across Western Australia and Tasmania to locate, collect, and safeguard the seeds of some of Australia’s most at-risk plants. From delicate orchids hidden in remote grasslands to rare grevilleas surviving in just a single location, each species presented its own conservation challenge.

But securing these species wasn’t just about banking seeds—it was about unlocking their secrets. The project explored innovative germination techniques, expanded seed production areas, and laid the groundwork for future restoration efforts. By combining science with hands-on conservation, this work is giving Critically Endangered plants a fighting chance.

How do you grow a species back from the brink? What does it take to save plants most people will never see in the wild? Explore the full story of this groundbreaking project and the people behind it.
