We’re excited to announce the launch of Lofty Legacies — a new conservation project made possible thanks to the incredible support from our 2024 Seeds of Our Cities Appeal donors, along with matched funding from the Wild Country Environmental Fund.
Led by the South Australian Seed Conservation Centre, Lofty Legacies will focus on conserving two endemic grass species — Cleland’s Wallaby-Grass (Rytidosperma clelandii) and Shade Tussock-Grass (Poa umbricola) — in the Mount Lofty Ranges on Adelaide’s peri-urban fringe.
Through seed collection, storage, propagation, and community involvement, this project will help secure the future of these unique native grasses, ensuring they continue to thrive for generations to come.
