The WA Seed Technology Centre at Kings Park and Botanic Garden collects seeds and plant material to conserve Western Australia’s biodiversity and for horticultural and research activities.

Over the past 10 years, Kings Park has collected and banked seeds of more than 1500 species in the Centre and the Millennium Seedbank. Its seed science team constantly researches new ways to refine seed storage techniques and help restore degraded landscapes across Western Australia. The Centre also works with the WA Department of Environment and Conservation to propagate and conserve threatened flora across the state.

Kings Park supports the Australian Seed Bank Partnership through exchanging seed collections, collaborative research programs, university training and community involvement.

The WA Seed Technology Centre and its partners has published Australian Seeds, a definitive guide to the collection and identification of Australian plants, and five scientific research papers on the biology and conservation of native seeds.
